Northern Districts Masters Div 1 Winners!
Congratulations to Northern Districts Masters on their Div 1 grand final win! They continued with their season dominating form to decisively beat Hoggies in a game that at times was quite physical.

Wet Season Kicks Off This Thursday
For those of us keen enough to risk the elements the Darwin Netball Association Wet Season Competition kicks off this Thursday. Currently the draw features nominations from 8 teams in both A and B grades, 6 teams in C, and 5 in the mixed division. It’s great that there’s been a lot of interest.
Districts are fielding teams in both A grade and the mixed comps and I’m sure we’re going to give the others a run for their money!
The schedule will be posted shortly.
Netball NT Newsletter
Leanna has been hard at work publishing the bi-monthly Netball NT newsletter. Northern District’s own Liz McCouaig features in the newsletter’s Territory Storm Player Profile. Hard to believe she’s a fan of Kurt’s Cakes with her fitness level! Love your work Liz!

Pre-season Training Review from the Coach
Last Monday saw a good turnout and it was nice to be running around in the inside in the dry having escaped the rain outdoors that was to become cyclone Carlos; mastering some drills and attempting others. There were lots of blonde jokes bandied about, the difference between left and right appears to be an issue for some as does backwards and forwards. Lets hope we can get a better handle on this basic component of netball, and indeed everyday life, come round one.
The die-hards were out in force on Thursday in the drizzle and it was surprisingly pleasant for the hour we worked. – note to self: need to bring stopwatch with big numbers.
With the start of the season approaching players need to make the effort to attend training so that we can put teams together and attempt to be organised before the opening round. I have attached the DNA player nomination form for all to fill in. You are required to complete the form and return it to me as soon as possible. If you have any queries regarding your nomination please do not hesitate to raise it with me at training.
Remember Monday is 6pm @ Palmerston Y
Oh and did we all see Lisa McGough in Sundays social pages? She bears a striking resemblance to our very own Liz McCouaig.
Reminder – Territory Storm Applications Close Soon

Northern Districts Strip
After a long process Northern Districts are happy to a see all senior and Under 17 players attired in our new uniform. The club decided to move into the modern times and change from body suits to the one piece A-line dresses, as worn by the Australian team and Trans-Tasman clubs. Players have also received their training tops, used on training days and match warm-ups. We have stayed with the traditional club colours of royal blue and pink, but have chosen a funky new design.
The Mitchell Centre logo is featured on the chest pocket area of uniforms. This year the Mitchell Centre shopping complex is a blue sponsor of Northern Districts and has provided generous support in assisting the club to obtain the new uniforms. I would also like to thank the following companies and people who helped us to reduce the costs associated with getting our teams on court in the new club attire;
- City Ceramics
- NTRS
- Lloyd English and family
- JS Sports
- Raffle ticket sellers and sponsors who provided prizes
NETTA through to under 13’s have also received new uniforms in the same design, but we have stuck to two piece outfits for these grade. Unfortunately an ordering error has meant that adult sizes were sent instead of youth and the younger girls are still waiting, but I am hoping that this situation will be resolved by start of the second half of the season. The under 15 players were very excited about receiving the seniors body suits and don’t they look grand. The club decided that passing the body suits on to the younger girls was a sound financial decision as these uniforms were still in very good condition.
JS Sports supplied our new uniforms and I would like to thank Joe for all his help.
Northern Districts Masters (Div 1) will continue to wear their black and silver outfits for the forseeable future.
DNA Season Break
Hi everyone,
As most of you are aware (sorry Erica) all grades have a break now due to the school holidays. A grade and Div 3 play their next game on the 12th July and all other grades return on the 19th July.
There will be training for the A grade Thursday week ( 5th July) and then the following Monday. Other grades will recommence training on the 16th.
I hope you all enjoy your break and will see you at the courts in a couple of weeks.
Cheers,
Claire
