Districts U13 Match Reports

Division 2 Blue

The girls played really well for their first game together and  fought out a tough draw. Not having seen the girls play before I was very pleased with their attitude and intent. Best thing was that they listened to everything I said and tried to implement it on the court. Big tick goes to Kimmie who said she did not play centre, but then played the whole game there. Thanks go to Emily James who filled in on the night. Lots to look forward to.

Claire Elliston.

Division 1

Players and coach still getting used to each other. Differences between our game and the Nettas – we are taller, the goal posts are higher and we should know better???

Positives – play improved as the game went on, all players contributed and there was intent to get it right.

Sue Kendrick.

Under 13 Blue Match Report

The girls had an excellent first half, nice movement of the ball through the centre by Karla, Kimmie and Krystal,  with  Lalani and Grace presenting well in the goal circle. Amy and Becci in defence worked very hard and managed some great intercepts. Changed things around in the last quarter (I thought it was half time!!), and unfortunately we could not capitalize on our opportunities. They held us scoreless in the final term and we went down by two goals. Thanks to Sophie for filling in and well done to Ingrid who had her very first game of netball. A very good all round performance.

Club BBQ & 2012 Season Sign On

Hi everyone,

The new season is almost here so to celebrate Districts is holding a BBQ next Friday evening at 6 till 7.00 on the Nightcliff foreshore across from Aralia St to welcome back all our past players and supports and to welcome all our new players to the club. We will provide some snags and bread and a beverage or two.  Please come along and say hi, even if you can only stay for a little while. This is great opportunity to catch up on all the gossip and lament how unfit we all are (except for Liz!!).

Drop us a line if you are able to come, or just turn up. Feel free to bring your other half and/or friends. We will be  starting training the following week on Monday but the location is yet to be confirmed.

See you all there!

Claire

It was great to see some familiar, and some new faces at the BBQ yesterday. About a dozen people came along and it was nice to touch base again and catch up with all the news and events that occurred over the off-season. Thanks to Sue for supply the drinks and to Darcy for cooking the snags.

Our first training will be this coming Thursday at the Marrara courts starting at 6. See you all there. Remember to keep an eye on our website to keep up with all the latest news.

NT News: Districts Storm Home

Katrina Slidders looks to pass

Story by Jess Webster

Northern Districts stormed into second place on the Darwin Netball Association ladder with an inspiring 15-goal win over defending premier Pints at Marrara on Thursday night. Districts extended its lead at every change and outscored Pints by 9 goals in the last to win 47-32.

After starting strongly, Districts let Pints pick up easy goals the end of the first and second quarters and led by just three at half-time.

Their persistence in the second half paid off and some excellent defence, with quick ball movement and innovative feeding in the circle, enabled Districts to finish off with a strong last quarter.

Goal-attack Katrina Sliders and defender Marissa Chaplin were superb while shooter Peta Whelan was Pints’ best performer.
